Software developer

Your tasks

You will be responsible for the development and use of statistical software, ecological and GIS computer models and machine learning projects. Examples of our software are the statistics software GSS or HoneybeeComplete.

Your profile

  • You are proficient in object-oriented programming
  • You have good programming skills in C++ and/or python
  • A degree in mathematics or statistics is preferred
  • You have a reliable and target-oriented working style and good communication skills

Ecotoxicologist

Your tasks

  • You will be working on projects for our international clients.
  • You will be responsible for projects supporting the ecotoxicological risk assessment of chemical products used in agriculture following EU and national guidelines, mainly for birds and mammals. Aim of these guidelines is to protect non-target organisms.
  • You participate in internal research projects.
  • You represent the company at congresses and workshops.
  • You will be working independently in a flexible working environment (work from home is possible).
  • We expect a high degree of responsibility and self-organized work, but always help you to further develop your personal and technical skills.

Your profile

  • You have a degree in natural sciences (e.g. biology, agronomy, geography or related).
  • You have good computer skills; a proficient use of MS office is a prerequisite.
  • You enjoy communicating with people incl. clients.

Team Leader Environmental Fate

Your tasks

You will be responsible to develop our efate business, which includes standard exposure assessment and higher tier approaches, such as GIS modelling. This includes the development of a growing team, marketing, interaction with clients and the coordination of projects. You present new assessment approaches at conferences or workshops.

Your profile

You have experience in environmental fate assessments and current EU and national guidance. You are willing to develop and lead a team. You take responsibility and you have a reliable working style and good communication and social skills. Fluent English (in spoken and written) is a requirement.

Environmental Fate Modeller

Your tasks

You will be responsible for projects supporting the risk assessment of chemical products by developing and using complex modelling approaches. Models include numerical one-dimensional water- and substance transport models as requested in the FOCUS environment (PRZM, Macro, TOXSWA, PELMO, PEARL), but also models which simulate water- and substance transport in a landscape context.

Your profile

  • You have a thorough experience in the area of environmental fate within Regulation EC 1107/2009
  • You have experience with available tools and models in the area of environmental fate modelling
  • You are curious about the use and development of environmental fate models and find unconventional solutions, but you are always very target-oriented

  • You have a reliable working style and good communication skills.

Ecological/ecotoxicological modeller

Your tasks

a) Ecological/ecotoxicological modelling:
You will be responsible for projects supporting the risk assessment of chemical products using ecological and ecotoxicological models and you develop new models yourself. Models include deterministic models, probabilistic models, population models and others (e.g. for birds, mammals, arthropods or others). You present models and new approaches at conferences or workshops.

b) Ecology:
You analyse ecological data (e.g. literature, proprietary or other) in order to understand ecological mechanisms, which can be deduced from underlying data. These can be used for risk assessment and/or modelling purposes. The main focus will be on birds and mammals, but also other areas will be covered.

We expect a high degree of responsibility and self-organized work, but always help you to further develop your personal and technical skills. We offer a very flexible working environment.

Your profile

We are looking for a senior and a junior ecological modeller (two positions).

Senior ecological/ecotoxicological modeller:

  • You have an ecological background (e.g. a PhD or M.Sc. in respective areas) and you have a thorough programming experience (e.g. C++, Perl, Java). You are curious and find unconventional solutions, but you are always very target-oriented. You take responsibility. You have a reliable working style and good communication skills. Fluent English (in spoken and written) is a requirement.
  • Knowledge of GIS software programming is an advantage, but not a necessity.

Junior ecological/ecotoxicological modeller:

  • You have a degree in biology, agronomy, mathematics or other areas related to modelling.
  • You have good programming skills (optimally in C++)
  • You are interested in complex ecological questions
  • You are willing to contstantly learn new skills
  • Your working style is structured and target-oriented
  • You are a responsible person, you know how to plan your work
  • Good command of English (e.g. preparation of scientific texts) is a prerequisite.
